Amazing! I had no idea that houses were bought in this way. They must have been a good deal to be looking in such lovely condition all this time later! Lovely blog, I shall be visiting again!

It really is interesting to learn about these kit houses!  Other companies besides Sears made them too.  Thanks for visiting,

Wow - How wonderful to have all that information to look at - the sales patter is fantastic! Thanks for sharing this with us - it's really interesting :D

When I was going to college in Idaho, one of my professors owned a mansion in the city's historic district which he was really proud of. Then once when we had the president of the historic society come give a presentation at the college on local history, that house came up on the powerpoint as an example of a Sears-Roebuck kit house, which somewhat tarnished the professor's image.

You can see the house here: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=403+n+polk+st+Moscow,+Idaho&sll=46.73663,-116.994143&sspn=0.006618,0.02105&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=403+N+Polk+St,+Moscow,+Latah,+Idaho+83843&ll=46.74139,-116.994159&spn=0,359.97895&z=16&layer=c&cbll=46.73663,-116.994143&panoid=aKFpfcqe_kinTLCH1y7BTA&cbp=12,272.18,,0,3.17
