I came upon this letter panel in my stash that had been waiting for just such a purpose: to help a little one learn their letters. My boy is really delighted with this simple little matching game. I made the letter cards with stick-on felt letters, and some over-size blank cards from United Art and Education, a great schooling and art supply resource.
He's really got it; the even more amazing thing to us is that he knows the names of letters and can pick them out, without being shown what they look like first. We use our reading books for this; I ask him where the "B"s are, and he points them out.
For now, we're just doing these couple of simple little things to encourage his own interest. Most days our letter matching devolves into letter re-organizing, and that okay. He's only almost 2 (on the 18th!).
Yes, he's earned a rest and drink. Learning is hard work, after all.
