One month ago today I finished this shawl. For Advent this year I decided to try something new to help me be more mindful of the season: an Advent Calendar Knit-A-Long. It was really amazing. It brought quiet and reflection to the weeks before Christmas, while I created this gorgeous, and warm, wrap. It was a free pattern, with each day of December, the 1st through the 24th posted to knit that day. So each section of the shawl that you see is one days worth. 24 beautiful lace patterns, and 24 afternoons of peace.
It was a distinct challenge to fit all the knitting required in for each day, and I spent at least 2 hours
knitting each day. Thankfully, we still have long naps and early bedtimes around here:) And, now that I think of it, I skipped 2 of the days for the sake of time and yarn. I used about 1000 yards of yarn for this, Koigu Premium Merino in this aqua color.
I would love to make this a yearly tradition, but 2 concentrated hours of knitting each day may not be in my future next year. We'll see. If you're interested in the Knit-a-long, the pattern is on Ravelry, and can be found here. A fun project, and a great reminder of Advent 2010; the best yet, I believe.

It's absolutely gorgeous, what a beautiful job you did, and the colour is amazing.
